The AusMumpreneur Awards presented by The AusMumpreneur Network celebrate and recognise Australian Mums in business achieving outstanding success in areas such as business excellence, product development, customer service and digital innovation. The awards are designed to recognise the growing number of women who successfully balance motherhood and business in a way that suits their life and family.
Bernadette is an inspiration to many. A working mother of three gorgeous girls, who is motivated, determined and very talented at what she does. We look after everything from start to finish so our clients can kick back and enjoy the ride. Ours is a unique & personal approach to event theming, styling & planning. We provide you with a tailored solution not just a “one-size-fits-all". We believe Its not just about the look of the event, it's about the feel, the vibe, the atmosphere, the whole experience & the WOW! We're known for bold themes, creative concepts and our eye to detail in every design. Mission-Keep your friends bragging about the best party ever! SPARKLEBOX was brought to life when I realised that I wasn't doing what I loved. My passion for creativity had taken a back seat to life and its commitments whilst being immersed in the corporate world of a working mother of three gorgeous girls. So I decided to follow my passion & dream for creativity. This is when Sparklebox was born. So now I can say “I love what I do”. I love that I am able to organise & schedule my time, staff & work to accommodate my family’s needs. This allows me to be the best mum possible. Having the ability to take a few hours to go to a school assembly or athletic carnival. While this means more time spent in the evenings after bedtime working, it’s worth every minute + I’m living my dream of running my own business. My greatest challenge has been relocating our storage from my home garage to a warehouse. Having it at home was convenient, allowing me to work at all hours of the night while the kids were sleeping, whereas now it requires a little more planning with storage offsite. I felt this was a necessary move though to separate work from home. Biggest achievement was being able to donate probono execution of a major charity event raising funds for Make-A-Wish Foundation, called “Shine & Dine” which was held on the 13th May 2016 with 550 guests. This event was hosted by talent from channel 7, 9 & 10 collectively and was covered by TV media, Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph & many other media/blog outlets. Sparklebox were a Gold Sponsor of the event, responsible for the creative design, styling & the supply of the all styling items inc a 7x3m digital stage screen, furniture, table settings, decorative items & more. I was so proud of my team as they executed the day so professionally without me being present to manage it & the end result was spectacular. I truly encourage mums to follow their passion. Being happy in your work life makes you a better mum & better person. If your business is something you believe in & something you will stay up late & work well into the night or at the crack of dawn for then do what you love. Do your research, seek advice, ask lots of questions,& make a plan! It’s ok to change your goals along the way, be flexible. Introduce yourself to everyone & tell everyone you meet about what you do. They will sense the passion & love you have for your business. Ignore the negative chatter from unsupportive people, believe in yourself & be brave. I would be honoured & humbled to be considered for an AusMumpreneur award. Although applying for awards is not something that I normally do, it is such a wonderful opportunity to be inspired to continue with my work & meet other awesome talented business mums. I have been growing my business and powering on through one of the toughest times in my life of becoming a single mum. As I have been so fortunate to raise three gorgeous & healthy girls who are proud of their mummy, being able to show them that dreams & success are possible not matter what life throws at you is my main motivation. They fill me with pride.
